Thanks to all who participated in VFW Post 8867 Flag Day Ceremonies and disposal of more than 20,000 flags. Special thanks to organizer John Pearson, who was up at 5 AM preparing the 12 barrels to retire flags by incineration.
Public Law94-344 para. 42 states: “When the Flag is so badly torn, soiled or faded that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display the Flag should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning. A torn Flag may be mended, or if soiled it may be washed or dry cleaned.” Proudly display and respect the Stars and Stripes.
